Introduction:
Golden Community facilitated a two days’ workshop on January, 2024 with midwives and SBA nurses working in labor room and maternal and newborn health service at Bharatpur hospital. Participants had working experience in the maternity area from 3 months to 20 years. They were from different nursing education background such as Auxillary Nurse Midwife, Bachelor in Nursing, Proficiency Level Nursing and Bachelor in Midwifery. Four groups were formed based on their working experience for discussion and presentation.
First day started with familiarization of topic based on global and national evidence of mistreatment during childbirth and its consequences. The workshop was facilitated by a team of researcher. Participants were further informed about the current quality of care framework and perinatal mental health guidelines endorsed by WHO. After the gallery walk of the qualitative findings, participants discussed and identified problems within each group. Second day workshop started with group presentation and reflection of the problems followed by prioritization of problem and group discussion of the root causes of the problem. At the end of workshop participants came up with a prototype of respectful maternity care feasible to implement in the hospital.
Eventually the workshop provided four prototypes of respectful maternity care interventions.
